Joseph L. "Sonnyman" Swift, 79, of Crisfield, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the home of his daughter in Federalsburg.
Born in Crisfield on November 21, 1935, he was a son of the late Charles Upshur and Elizabeth Lear Harrison Swift.
He worked his early years as a cloth cutter at the Crisfield Cap Factory. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
He leaves behind three daughters, Wanda Abbott of St. Michaels, MD and the late Guilford Abbott, III, Cindy Webb and Mike Cornell of Federalsburg, and Julia Steward and husband Dan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Julia Ward of Salisbury and Alberta Townsend of Crisfield; two brothers, Jack Swift of Crisfield and Carl "Bing" Swift of Marion; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, five brothers, and two grandsons, Guilford Abbott, IV and Frank Howard.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Bob Daniels will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
