JOSEPH L. PENN, JR., 50, of Crisfield and formerly of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born in Forked River, New Jersey on June 2, 1957, he was a son of Ruth Louise Taylor Penn of Bradenton, Florida and the late Joseph L. Penn, Sr. He had been making his home in Crisfield for the past ten years.

A graduate of Central Regional High School in Bayville, New Jersey, he was a self-employed contractor. He was an avid fisherman who was very much a family man. He loved his children and grandchildren very much.

He was a member of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 Sons of American Legion in Crisfield, and was a former member of the Crisfield Lions Club and Moose in New Jersey.

He is survived by his wife of almost 27 years, Rae Dawn Traister Penn of Crisfield; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Keough and husband Steve of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Wendy Michelle Penn of Elizabeth City, New Jersey; one brother, Allen Jeffrey Penn of Texas; three sisters, Deborah Elaine Jacobson of Dames Quarter, Maryland, Carolyn Jean Sheedy of Crisfield and Laura Ann Youmans of Southern Shores, North Carolina; grandchildren, Cameron and Chloe; one grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 4 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call two hours prior. Burial will be at a later date in New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to American Diabetes Association, Eastern Shore District Office, 114 Baptist Street, Salisbury, Maryland 21801.
