JOHN C. WHEATLEY, SR., 83, of Marion Station, went to his eternal home on Sunday, August 14, 2011.

Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Edward C. and Elsie May Rambo Wheatley. His wife, Catherine "Marie" Wheatley, preceded him in death in 2008.

He was a retired printer, and a US Army veteran. He was a member of the Crisfield VFW Post #8274 and the Stanley Cochrane American Legion Post #16.

He is survived by his children, John Wheatley, Jr., Garland Lockhart and her husband Steve, Torie Webb and her husband Danny, and Michael Wheatley and his wife Billie; grandchildren, Aaron Wheatley and his fiancé Amber, DJ Webb, Courtney Cole, Jared and Adam Lockhart, and Michelle Harris and her husband Mike, Justin Dorrier, MacKenzie Wheatley; and a great-grandchild, Cayden Webb.

Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Joanne and Mary Wheatley.

There will be a private ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
