Obituary

JOHN EDWARD RIGGIN, 77, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield July 26, 1932, he was a son of the late Howard and Sadie Mason Riggin.

A Korean War veteran, he retired from the Army National Guard after 28 years of service. He was also a supervisor at Rubberset Corp. in Crisfield, working 27 years before his retirement in 1994.

Mr. Riggin enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. He also was a Duke basketball fan. He loved to travel, as long as it was by car, and he loved to cook and feed people.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Geneva Dize Riggin of Crisfield; four children, Kay Johnson and her husband Riggin of Salisbury, Jay Riggin and his wife Iva of Crisfield, Jamie Riggin of Kent Island, and Susan Roach and her husband Matt of Rehobeth; four grandchildren, John David Perdue of Salisbury, and Brock , Cole and Mikayla Roach of Rehobeth; two sisters and one brother, Jeanette Morgan and Howard Lee Riggin and his wife Jane, all of Crisfield, and Elestine Pope of Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Earl "Toots" Riggin, Ralph Riggin and Irene Walston.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2010 at 1 PM at the Crisfield Church of God. Pastor's Stephen Willing and M. LeBron Palmer will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory are requested to be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Maryland 21802-1733.
