JOHN WILLIAM NELSON, SR., 86, of Crisfield, died on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield, he was the son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth Nelson. His wife, Ann Nelson, died in 1999. He was a retired waterman and a World War II Navy Veteran.

Surviving are four children, Gordon Nelson, John Nelson and wife Cindy, Donna Harris and husband Melvin, and Robin Dize and husband Calvin "Cabby", all of Crisfield; eight grandchildren, Janet Beckett, Gordon Nelson, John Nelson, III, Starr Mister, Angel Harris, Bubby Harris, Brittany Nelson, and Richard Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Kenny Sneade, Jr., Nicholas Sneade, Elijah Mister, and Aiden Howard Nelson. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Nelson, who died in 1989.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
