JOHN E. "JAY" WHITELOCK, III, 69, of Salisbury, died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Crisfield June 1, 1938, he was raised on Ewell, Smith Island, and was the son of the late John Edwin Whitelock who died in 1960 and the late Elpetina "Teen" Brimer Whitelock who died in 1980. He had been making his home in Salisbury for the past 40 years.
Retired from the sales industry, Jay was a member of Trinity U. M. Church in Salisbury, Centennial Masonic Lodge #221 AF & AM in Salisbury, Tall Cedars of Lebanon #53, Boumi Shriners of Baltimore including Legion of Honor, Eastern Shore Shrine Club of Boumi Shrine, Eastern Shore of Virginia Shrine Club of Khedive, Eastern Shore Shrine Club Hospital Transportation Chairman, and was a board member of the Crisfield & Smith Island Cultural Alliance. He was also a US Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Middleton Whitelock of Salisbury; his daughter, Patricia R. "Patti" Whitelock of Salisbury; his sister, Angela W. Parks of Annapolis; two grandchildren, Amanda E. Fleetwood of Salisbury and Jeffrey T. Fleetwood, Jr. of Delmar, Delaware; and several cousins.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. George Patterson will officiate. A Masonic Memorial Service will also take place during the funeral. Private interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock with The Rev. William Kniceley officiating.
