John Carson Bruce, 77, of Crisfield and formerly of Tylerton, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield July 24, 1944, he was a son of the late Oliver Gibson Bruce and Lillian Lewis Bradshaw Bruce.  His wife, Carolyn Parsons Bruce, preceded him in death on October 6, 2018.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1962 and obtained an Associate Pastor Degree from Evangelistic Bible School in 2001.  John was a waterman for 38 years and later retired from H. Glenwood Evans & Son Seafood after working 18 ½ years.

John was a member of the Crisfield Church of God for the past 5 years, and was a member of Faith Fellowship Assembly of God for 29 years.  He enjoyed woodworking, and all aspects of working on the water including crabbing, scraping, and oystering.  He also built numerous sheds and boat cabins.

He is survived by his sister, Flora "Jane" Shreaves and husband James of Bloxom, VA; niece, Angela Cummings and husband Mark of Jonesborough, Tennessee; great-niece, Kelly Cummings of Jonesborough, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Allison Adams and Family of Salisbury; and brothers-in-law, Alwyn Wooten and wife Ida of Charlottesville, VA and Oliver Wooten and wife Ann of Salisbury.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 2 PM at Crisfield Church of God where a viewing will be one hour prior.  Rev. John Thorne will officiate.  Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
