JOHN J. "BREAD" PAPA, 47, of Crisfield, died Monday, November 5, 2007 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Salisbury on April 11, 1960, he was a son of the late John Joseph and Dorothy Margaret Loughlin Papa.
A waterman, he was a member of Marion Baptist Church in Marion Station and the Maryland Watermen's Association. He loved his family, the water, traveling, cooking and collecting coins.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Owens Papa of Crisfield; his step-children, Carla Hatten and her husband Andy and their son, Logan of Charlotte, North Carolina and Michael Hancock of Baltimore; his brother, William S. "Bill" Papa and his wife Bev Amir of Crisfield; his sisters, Mary Labo and her husband Monte of Crisfield and Penny Bowyer and her husband Sam of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; his mother-in-law, Peggy Owens of Crisfield; his brother-in-law, Arzie J. Owens and his wife Lisa of Salisbury; his sister-in-law, Pam Zywczynski and her husband Larry "Ski" of Lancaster, NY; his nieces and nephews, Allison Papa of Salisbury, Jessica Labo of Crisfield, Melinda Bowyer and Sam Bowyer, Jr. of Doylestown, Shah Amir of Berlin, Chad Owens and Katie Owens of Salisbury, and Lindsay Zywczynski and June Pszczdkowski of Lancaster; and his pet dog, Skipper.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank M. Papa; his half-brother, Harry Papa; his father-in-law, Arza A. Owens; and his pet dog, Jake.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 2007 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call Thursday evening from 7-9. The Rev. Joe Barnes will officiate the service. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station.
