Obituary

John Robert "Bobby" Aswell, 69, of Marion Station, died Friday, December 31, 2021 in Salisbury, MD.

Born in Salisbury on November 3, 1952, he was a son of the late James Benjamin Aswell and Laura Virginia Sterling Aswell.

A US Army veteran, he was a Union crane and heavy equipment operator.  He also briefly worked in law enforcement.

He was a member of the Chesapeake Masonic Lodge #147 AF & AM and former member of the Crisfield Fire Department.

Bobby enjoyed collecting guns and military memorabilia, shoot sports, and attending gun shows and outdoor shows.  Bobby was most definitely a "Self Made Man".

He is survived by his nephew, James B. Aswell, III (Pati); niece, Bonnie Matthews (Jim); numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; and his close friend, Les Tyler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Norris and Freda Sterling who raised him after the passing of his mother in 1956; and brother and sister-in-law, James B. Aswell and Edith Ann Aswell Warfield.

A private family service officiated by Pastor Olivia Costango will be held at a later date at the Somerset Memorial Veterans Cemetery on Cash Corner Road in Crisfield.
