JOAN S. TOWNSEND, 75, of Princess Anne, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Salisbury on August 28, 1934, she was a daughter of the late William Vaughn Evans and Ella Estelle Shores Daniels. Her husband, Dale Edmund Townsend, preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2009.

She was formerly employed at the Campbells Soup Company and Island Seafood on Deal Island.

She was a loving and caring mother, and wonderful sister.

She is survived by her children, Allan Townsend and Chrystal Townsend of Princess Anne and Vaughn Townsend and wife Judy of Hurlock; a brother, Frank T. Daniels of Wenona; two sisters, Myrtle Daniels Bransford and E. Kay Daniels of Wenona; an aunt, Dorothy Jones of Salisbury; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna R. Curtis; three brothers, Barney "Bunkey" Evans, William "Spooky" Benton, and Norman A. Benton; a step-sister, Audrey Benton; a step-brother, Earl B. Daniels; and her step-father, Frank B. Daniels.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Church Cemetery in Wenona. The Rev. Beattie Johnson will officiate.
