IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan Elizabeth
Seyda Cloud
September 13, 1939 – November 14, 2025
Joan Elizabeth Seyda Cloud, 86, of Marion Station, joyfully woke up in Heaven to be with her Saviour and beloved family on Friday, November 14, 2025 from her home.
She was born in the former parsonage on Hudson St. of the Crisfield Church of God on September 13, 1939. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Robert Rudolph Seyda, Sr. and Hilda Rae Lane Seyda.
Joan graduated from Roswell High School in New Mexico where her father was then pastoring. She also attended Lee Academy in Cleveland, TN which is now known as Lee University. She was the General Manager for the original Gospel Shop in Salisbury, MD and retired after working there for over 20 years.
Being the daughter of a Pastor, and later a wife of an Air Force Serviceman, she traveled to and resided in many places. While living in Crisfield she learned to play the piano. As a child she lived in Krewinkel, Germany where her father was pastor. While there she learned to speak French and German and attended school by train. Later while living in Clovis, NM, again where her father was a pastor, she learned to play the accordion and graduated from high school there. She met her husband while he was stationed at Walker AFB in Roswell, NM and her children were born there. They would later move to Omaha, NE; Naha, Okinawa; California and then move back to Crisfield when her husband retired from the military.
While her family was at Naha AFB in Okinawa, she was an integral member of the Pentecostal Servicemen's Center and their music department where she joined the Joy Bells and Melody Men Quartet and recorded an album as well. She was highly active in the leadership of the Girl Scouts Organization in Okinawa and would often travel to Tokyo, Japan for conventions and events for it. Her home while there was open to any that needed it.
When she returned to Crisfield, she remained an active member of the Church of God where she served in many roles. She was the church organist, choir director, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Ladies Willing Workers Band (LWWB), and Family Training Hour (FTH) Director. She also formed a unique Sunday School class called Spares & Pairs. Pairs were the married couples and spares were the singles. There was no class like it and it was well attended for all the time she taught it. She also created the Women of Worship ladies' group which traveled to many conferences all over the USA. She was well known for the Vacation Bible School that she led for many years. She worked with it until 2016 when she was 77 years old. She also played the piano for the former Faith Fellowship Assembly of God during their formation.
Joan was an avid reader, a die-hard New York Yankees fan, was a talented seamstress, and an accomplished musician. She was a wonderful baker and baked many cakes from her home. She joined the Seyda Bake Shop on Main Street with her daughter Wendy and passed her skills and love for baking on to her. She loved entertaining and setting a beautiful table for family and friends to gather around. In her later years she enjoyed working in her yard with her husband. She loved her family so very much and time spent with them mattered more to her than anything.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Douglas Harold Cloud; children, Nick Bradbury (Waneva), Wendy Clough, Libby Brittingham (Miles), Greg Cloud (Monyah), and Kimberly Walston; her beloved niece, Missy Landon, and her "adopted daughter", Liz Warfield; her brothers, David Seyda and Rev.
