Obituary
JESSE W. CARMINE, SR., 86, of Crisfield, died Monday, January 7, 2008 at his home.
Born in Crisfield on December 12, 1921, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Myrtle Byrd Carmine.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he was retired as city inspector for the City of Crisfield. He started employment with the City of Crisfield in 1953 as a Police Officer, and was appointed Chief of Police in 1977. He was appointed City Building Inspector in 1986 from which he later retired in 1991. In addition, he served as acting Chief of Police in 1997, and did contract work for the city from 1997 until 2005.
He was a life member of both the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion and V.F.W. Post #8274 in Crisfield. An avid craftsman who enjoyed building and fixing things, he was extremely devoted to his family. His entire life was work and family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Naomi Elizabeth Thomas Carmine of Crisfield; three children, Donna E. Tyler and husband Timmy, Jesse W. Carmine, Jr. and wife Shirl, and Jeffrey W. Carmine, all of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Jessica Carmine of Crisfield, Denny Scott, Jr. of Salisbury, Lori Scott of Florida and Josh Scott of Salisbury; one sister, Doris Chelton of Salisbury; his pet dog, "Ben"; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Miriam Stubbins Carmine; a daughter, Sandra Scott; a sister, Nellie Todd; and two brothers, Lloyd Carmine, Jr. and Arthur Carmine.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 11 AM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
