JERRY LEE EVANS, 73, of Crisfield, died Monday, July 18, 2011 at his home.
Born in Crisfield and raised on Smith Island, he was a son of the late Edwin Clyde and Cora Katherine Corbin Evans.
He was a waterman and also worked at DuPont, Wallops Island, and The City of Salisbury as a mechanic.
A US Air Force veteran, he was a member of Ewell United Methodist Church and was a former President of the Ewell Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by a niece, Toni Daugherty and husband Lewis of Crisfield; a nephew, Jimmy Evans, Jr. and wife Melissa of Allen; a sister-in-law, Louise Evans of Crisfield; nieces and nephew, Amanda Hill of Crisfield, Joe Reed of Crisfield, and Evelyn Towers of Denton, and their families; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kyle, Caleb and Laura Evans, Tiffany Labo and Phillip "Moosie" Labo; and a great-great-nephew, Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Edwin Evans on Sept. 13, 2009.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Crisfield Wesleyan Church where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate. Urn interment will be held at a later date in the American Legion Cemetery in Crisfield.
