Jennifer "Jenny" Curry Tawes, 52, of Crisfield, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at her home following a valiant battle with Glioblastoma.
She was born in Seaford, DE on January 13, 1967, and was a daughter of Nancy "Nan" McLaren Curry of Fruitland, and Charles W. H. "Chick" Curry of Camden, DE.
A 1985 graduate of Parkside High School, she obtained her Bachelors in Business Management from Salisbury University in 1989. She was the manager of Tawes Brothers Oil Company, Inc. in Crisfield.
Very active in her community, Jenny was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church where over the years she served in numerous areas including Sunday School Director and Trustee; Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce where she volunteered in numerous events such as Wheels on the Waterfront Cruise In, Terrapin Sands Fish Fry, and MacTavish's Olde Town Market; Crisfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; and served on the McCready Foundation Board of Directors.
Jenny enjoyed playing the piano and also taught piano lessons for numerous years. She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, and loved to entertain, and also enjoyed her gift shop, Blue Crab Crossing.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 24 years, John Pearson Tawes, III of Crisfield; her son, John "Jack" Pearson Tawes, IV of Crisfield; her brother, Timothy S. Curry and wife Anna Kay of Hebron; her sister, Beth Curry Ventrone and husband Martin of Honey Brook, PA; a special aunt, Marjorie Keen of Elizabethtown, PA; a special cousin, Bob Keen of Wormleysburg, PA; her father-in-law, Robert Lee Tawes of Crisfield; brothers-in-law, George D. Tawes and wife Pat and Robert M. Tawes and wife Bonnie, all of Crisfield; several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends.
A memorial service will be Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 2 PM at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield. Urn interment will be private in St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station.
