Jeannie Rae Thomas Pruitt, 76, of Tangier Island, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 at the home of her sister in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on November 15, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Robert Walton Thomas and Ida Marie Christy Thomas.  She had been making her home on Tangier Island for the past 55 years but her home of Crisfield always remained close in her heart.

A graduate of Crisfield High School, she was a homemaker who devoted her life to her husband of 55 years, William Malcolm "Bit" Pruitt, and her late son, William "Malcolm" Pruitt, Jr. Jeannie loved people with all of her heart.  Everyone was always welcome in her home and she loved spoiling her guests. She loved visiting with her neighbors and friends and was always willing to extend a helping hand. She was faithful in keeping in contact with her loved ones either by phone or by visiting. She loved reading her Bible, and enjoyed gospel music and hymns.  She also supported various Christian ministries.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sisters, Lillian Ann Thomas Adams and husband David of Crisfield, Barbara Marie Thomas Dougherty and husband Mark of Crisfield, and Margaret Jane Thomas Mullennax and husband Regene of Lexington, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her son, she was preceded in death by sisters, Rachel Marlene Thomas Matthews, Mary Elizabeth Thomas, and Sharon Faye Thomas Gaines; and a brother Robert Walton "Bobby" Thomas Jr.

Funeral Services officiated by Rev. Mark Warfield and Elder Duane Crockett will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a viewing will be from 10 until service time at 10:30.  Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station.
