Jean Tappan Crockett, 74, of Tangier Island, VA, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Salisbury on May 2, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Pearl Clark Tappan.  Her husband of 41 years, Ralph "Dewey" Crockett, preceded her in death on July 2, 2012.

Jean was a retired Registered Nurse and teacher at Tangier Combined School.  Over the years she was a member of Swain Memorial Church and later the New Testament Church.  She was also a member of Tangier Fire Department where she was former EMS Captain.  She loved to read and she enjoyed watching game shows on TV.

She is survived by her son, Daniel C. Crockett of Tangier.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 2 PM at the New Testament Church on Tangier Island.  Elder Duane Crockett will officiate.
