James Preston Thomas, Sr., 83, of Westover, died Thursday, December 24, 2020 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

Born in Crisfield March 16, 1937, he was a son of the late Preston Irvin and Matilda Kathleen McCready Thomas.

He was a farmer and a member of the Crisfield Church of God. He enjoyed woodworking, his vegetable gardens, canning, and going out to eat, shopping, and visiting residents at the Nursing Home with his family.

He is survived by his long-time companion, Lettie Scott of Westover; six children, Patty L. Nunnally (Fred) of Newport News, VA, James Preston Thomas, Jr. (Janet Walters) of Westover, John Preston Thomas, Sr. of Westover, Bonnie Jean Stouffer (Mike) of Berlin, Arthur Norman Thomas (Gina) of New Church, VA, and Andrew Lewis Thomas (Constance King) of Crisfield; a brother, Johnny Thomas (Dixie) of Salisbury; four sisters, Naomi Carmine and Becky Evans of Crisfield, Tillie Green of Tennessee, and Presteen Thomas of Delmar, DE; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by numerous siblings. He was so proud to have been from a large family of 17 brothers and sisters. He was also preceded in death by his beloved pet dog, "Lulu".

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be sent to the American Liver Foundation.
