James Richard "Rick" Ward, Sr., 59, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home.

Born December 12, 1958 in Slayton, Minnesota, he was the son of Earl Richard "Dicky" Ward, Jr. and Peggy Jean Ward of Crisfield.

He was a 1976 graduate of Northampton High School and was an IBEW #24 Union electrician.  He attended the former Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield and was a former member of Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044.  He enjoyed woodworking, arranging flowers, and he could fix anything.  In his younger years, he played Little League and was a Cub Scout.

Along with his parents, Dicky and Peggy Ward of Crisfield, he is survived by his wife, Jessie Davis Ward of Crisfield; daughter, Mindy Wilson of Colonial Heights, VA; sisters, Karen Hartman and husband Billy of Westover and Kathy Ward of Marion; step-children, Jeana Jones and Lara Bradshaw of Crisfield, Eric Jones of TN, Charity Smith of Hallwood, VA, Billy Shores of Crisfield, and Chris Abbott of Crisfield; aunt and uncles, Donna Mae Milanowski and husband Tommy of Rehobeth Beach, DE and David Ward of Crisfield.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Richard "Ricky" Ward, Jr. on August 22, 2009; and his first wife, Tamara T. Ward on October 27, 2006.

The family would like express sincere thanks to the Coastal Hospice clergy and nurses, Arnold, Mark, Whitney, Courtney, Deanne and Shonda; and to his care taker Linda Abbott.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Terry D. Riggin will be Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
