Obituary

JAMES E. PRICE, 79, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Pocomoke City on April 17, 1932, he was a son of the late Edwin H. Price and Mabel Walker Mason.

He was raised in Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1948. He was a Park Ranger for 25 years retiring from Janes Island State Park in Crisfield, and prior, worked at the former Dresser Industries for 16 years. He was a US Air Force Korean War veteran and a member of Marion Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. A "people person", he enjoyed going to yard sales and loved camping. He also loved spending time with his family, and his cherished pets, "Duchess" and "Stormy".

He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Erma Landon Price of Crisfield; four children, James E. Price, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Chesapeake, Va, Steven Landon Price and wife Sharon of Salisbury, Mary Margaret Vance and husband Robert of Willards, and Stephanie Lynn Dize and husband Barry of Crisfield; a brother, Bobby Price and wife Doris of Salisbury; a sister, Linda Rodgers of Chincoteague; eight grandchildren, Karen Kimberly Price, Katherine Anne Price, James Charles Landon Price and wife Ashley, Robert Vance, II, Nicole Vance, Mariah Lynn Dize, Haley Noelle Dize, and Shannon Rachel Dize; two great-grandsons, Zander and Xaviar Price; three nieces, Robin Price, Ruth Ellen Mister and Kaye Outten; and one nephew, Bobby Green.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Lee Green.

A graveside committal service with military honors officiated by Rev.'s Joe Barnes and Jerry Hughes will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion. A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow at 12 Noon at Marion Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be sent to Marion Baptist Church Building Fund, 5833 Crisfield Highway, Marion, MD 21838 or Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home Activities Fund, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817.
