James “Wayne” Kemp, a resident of Somerset Community Services, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at his home in Marion.

Wayne was born on September 9, 1946. He was an avid car enthusiast and loved sweet tea. He enjoyed riding to the dock in Crisfield to watch the island boats come and go and enjoyed looking at the Chincoteague ponies.

He is survived by his wonderful staff of Somerset Community Services, Margaret Doty, Ebonesia Nicholas, Kesharr Ballard, Kay Blue, Ria Johnson, Nick Sneade, Lynell Johnson, Jakayla Borden, Taquita Holden, Jermel Abrams, Darrien Copes, and Angenette Stewart; and also his roommates and friends, Willie Smullen, Steven Schiller, and John Phillips.

Funeral services officiated by Minister Tony Jackson will be held at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 11 AM. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Peer Cemetery in Marion.
