Obituary

James "J.J." Johnson, Sr., 82, of Crisfield, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Harrison House Snow Hill Nursing Home.

Born in Marion Station on August 22, 1939, he was a son of the late Russell G. Johnson, Sr. who died in 1985 and Nellie Nelson Johnson who died in 1996.

He was a retired waterman and worked on the family farm in Marion.  He loved to tinker, and enjoyed fixing grass cutters and motors.  He also loved to search for and collect arrowheads.

He is survived by his children, James Johnson, Jr. (Mary Anne Evans Johnson), of Salisbury and Tammie Johnson (Donn Shallcross) of Deal Island; grandchildren, Jonathan Evans of Deal Island, Heather Evans (Jovan Stevenson) of Baltimore, and Kelsey Johnson Brooks (Dylan) of Salisbury; great grandchildren, Noah Evans and Mason Brooks; siblings, Russell G. Johnson, Jr. of Crisfield, Betty Tull and Jenny Jennings, both of Marion Station, Bonnie Tyler (Billy C.) of Crisfield, and Dorothy Jones of Pocomoke City; his pet cat, "Babe"; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin M. "Buster" Johnson in 1991.

A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station.  Rev. LeBron Palmer will officiate.
