James Rowland Hannon, 90, of Crisfield and formerly of Northern Virginia, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born on March 18, 1927 in Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Roland and Anna Hannon.
A US Navy WWII Veteran, he was a graduate of Catholic University in Washington, DC and was a retired Aerospace Engineer employed by the US Government.
James was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Pocomoke, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #16, and the Senior Association in Northern Virginia. He was a very devoted husband and enjoyed making Rosaries as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Valonda "Val" Marie Hannon; five children, Michael Hannon, Thomas Hannon, David Hannon, Patricia Oldfield, and Sharon Timmons; three step-children; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas Hannon of South Carolina.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Hannon.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. A viewing will be one hour prior. Interment with military honors will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11 AM at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1505 Michaels Road, Henrico, VA 23229.
