James Elliott

James Elliott, 83, of Crisfield, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Manokin Manor in Princess Anne.

Born in Crisfield on December 24, 1942, he was a son of the late Samuel Washington Elliott and Nellie Virginia (Johnson) Elliott Thomas.

James was a waterman and in his earlier years went crabbing with his father, and oystering with his brother-in-law, Buddy. For many years he traveled all over town collecting cans to later sell. He loved watching movies on TV, listening to country music, and going to Gordon’s and McDonald’s with his friend, Eddie.

He is survived by nephews, Chippy Jones and Russell Howard (Julie); niece, Pamela Sarvis (Chuck); great-nieces and nephews, David Samuel Jones (Amy), Debbie Dennis (Kenny), Chuck Nelson (Maria), Lisa Sterling, Ernie Jones, Shane Jones, Jacob Howard, Rena Sarvis, and Lacey Sarvis; his good friend, Eddie McCready; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Harvey Thomas; his sisters, Gladys M. Adkins and Gloria McBride; his brother, Samuel Washington Elliott, Jr.; his nieces and nephew, Debbie Whittington, Janice Frock, Samuel Jones, and Marylynette.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and urn interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
