JAMES W. DODSON, 90, of Crisfield and formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida.

Born in Culpepper, Virginia on April 7, 1918, he was a son of the late Aubrey and Lottie Waters Dodson. His wife, Theda D. Dodson, died March 31, 2003. He had been making his home in Fort Myers, Florida for the past three months.

A retired carpenter for the State of Maryland, Mr. Dodson was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, both while in Baltimore. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by six children and their spouses, Beverly and Robert Kepfort, Janice and Anthony Ipavec and James E. and Beverly Dodson, all of Fort Myers, Florida, Gloria and Chris Sappington of Cookeville, Tennessee, Stephen and Collette Dodson of Baltimore and Dennis Dodson of Denver, Colorado; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; his special caregiver and friend, Sue Ward of Crisfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Ellis Dodson.

Graveside funeral services and interment with military honors will be held Friday, August 15, 2008 at 1 PM at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Cockeysville. The Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate.
