Obituary

JAMES L. "BONES" ABBOTT, 65, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Deal Island on July 29, 1942, he was the son of the late Frank and Lola White Abbott.

He worked in construction and on the water until he was injured and became disabled in 1978. He was affiliated with the Crisfield Church of God and enjoyed visits from Rev. Philip Morris. He was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed watching War and Western Movies. He also loved spending time with his friends at Somers Crab Pots in Crisfield.

He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Linda J. Somers Abbott of Crisfield; two children, James M. Abbott and Rita Lynn Parkinson and husband J.P., all of Crisfield; nine grandchildren, Ashley and Jamie Abbott of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Shannon and Allison Abbott of Pocomoke City, and Vicki Abbott and Daniel, Darin, Joshua, and Jordan "Bubba" Parkinson, all of Crisfield; one sister, Rita Mae Harris of Crisfield; five brothers, Jack Abbott and wife Kathie of Port Charlotte, Florida, Gordon Abbott and fiancé Kim Curtis of Laurel, Delaware, and Albert Culbertson and wife Diane, Jerry Culbertson and wife Julie and Larry Abbott and wife Ethel, all of Crisfield; a special nurse, Donna White; his pet dog, "B.J."; pet cat, "Dixie"; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Abbott and a granddaughter, Kayla Abbott.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be held Monday, January 7, 2008 at 2 PM at Asbury Cemetery in Crisfield. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. Friends may call Monday from 1-2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. There will be a procession to the graveside.
