Jackie Wayne Ford, Sr., 70, of Crisfield, died on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born on December 24, 1944 in Crisfield, MD he was the son of the late Oris and Wilma Webster Ford.
A graduate of Crisfield High School Class of 1963, he worked 12 years as a police officer and eventually police chief of the Delmar MD & DE Police Dept., 5 years as a deputy for the Somerset County Sheriff's Dept. and retired after 8 years in the maintenance dept. of the McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
He enjoyed crafts, woodworking, and was an avid hunter. In addition, he loved George Jones and his beloved pet dog "Suzie".
He was a member of the Westover Moose Lodge where he was acting administrator, past governor, and past treasurer.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy Louise "Dottie" Bell Ford of Crisfield; two children, Lisa DiPaolo and husband Anthony of Snow Hill, and Jackie W. "Jay" Ford, Jr. and wife Lyn of Salisbury; six step-children, Patricia Nunnally and husband Fred of Newport News, James Thomas, Jr. and John Thomas, both of Westover, Bonnie Stouffer and husband Mike of Berlin, Arthur Thomas and wife Gina of Accomack County, VA, and Andy Thomas of Crisfield; a sister, Lula Mae Dize of Crisfield; five grandchildren, Jase Ford, Peyton Ford, Ashley Peacock, William Peacock, Jr., and Kristen Hall Bowers; ten step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his first wife, Constance Lee Massey of Willards.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Sonny" Ford and Robert Ford; and a sister, Joan Lawson.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where the family will receive friends one hour prior. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.
