Obituary

J. Carol Charnick Smith, 86, of Crisfield, died Thursday, December 12, 2024 at her home.

Born in Windsor, NC on May 20, 1938, she was a daughter of the late William Alonzo Charnick and Janie Cobb Charnick.  Her husband, Edgar J. Smith, preceded her in death in 1993.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1956, she was retired from the Naval Shipyard in Norfolk, VA and moved to Bedford, VA with her husband following retirement.  She returned back home to Crisfield in 2004 and was currently the secretary at Asbury United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Mariners United Methodist Church and enjoyed working at their Bargain Shop on Saturday's.  She liked to bake homemade dog biscuits for friend's dogs and especially for her "Sparky-Boy".

She is survived by her brother, William Alonzo Charnick, Jr. of Crisfield; her nieces, Sandra Landon of Crisfield and her daughter Blair Landon of Baltimore; Megan Evans and family of Salisbury; and Karri Barnes Page and family of Princess Anne; and her special friend, Tom Shores of Crisfield.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Jeff James will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 at 1 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a visitation will be one hour prior.  Interment will be at a later date in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society of Somerset County, MD, P.O. Box 493, Princess Anne, MD 21853.
