Henderson
November 26, 1945 – February 27, 2021
Howard William Henderson, 75, a lifelong resident of Marion Station, went home to be with His Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born on November 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Fred Malcom Henderson and Olga Tyler Henderson.
After graduation from Crisfield High School class of 1963, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served until 1967. He also attended the Jefferson School of Commerce.
Mr. Henderson retired from the Department of Social Services after 20 years, and prior to that worked at Perdue and Eastern Shore Oil.
At the age of 16, Howard gave his heart to Jesus at a Brady Wilson/Billy Graham Crusade. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Pocomoke. In addition to his faithful church membership, he was a lifelong member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. Mr. Howard Henderson was also a devout Boy Scout.
His true passions in life were being outdoors trapping, hunting, fishing, and adding to his arrowhead collection. He also raised hunting dogs and was an avid history buff with an extensive collection of books on the Civil War, and both World Wars. Mr. Henderson had a great love for children and was gifted at spoiling them.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jean M. Kreyling Henderson of Marion Station; devoted son, William Leonard Henderson and wife Melanie of Marion Station; inseparable twin brother and best friend, Fred Henderson and wife Kathy of Marion Station; sisters-in-law, Jerry Lynn Lytle and husband Tom of Pennsylvania and Eleanor Kreyling of Arizona; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul Daniel and Margaret Irene Kreyling; and brother-in-law, Daniel Paul Kreyling, II.
A Home Going Celebration will be held at the First Baptist Church in Pocomoke on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 3 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Wayne Ayer will officiate along with Assistant Pastor Gordon Nock. Interment with military honors will follow in Rehobeth Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to First Baptist Church, First Foods (Monetary Donation,) 204 4th Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
