Henry Lee Guy, Sr.

Henry Lee Guy, Sr., 94, of Salisbury, Maryland and formerly of Smith Island, Maryland, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Bay Harbor Post Acute.

Born on Smith Island on February 11, 1932, he was a son of the late Fred Lewis and Bernice Middleton Guy.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, where his duty assignment was as a pitcher for the Nellis AFB baseball team, including its Nevada State Championship squad.

He enjoyed a 37-year career with C&P Telephone Company, later Bell Atlantic, retiring in 1994. For many years, he was also a commercial waterman on the Chesapeake Bay, spending countless hours crabbing and oystering until moving to Salisbury in 1997.

He was a longtime and faithful member of Rockawalkin Church in Hebron. Service to others was an important part of his life, reflected in his longstanding involvement in numerous civic, fraternal, and charitable organizations. A member of Chesapeake Masonic Lodge #147 AF&AM for more than 50 years, he was also a member of the York Rite and the Boumi Shriners. He was a charter member of the Ewell Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of the Rockawalkin Ruritan Club. Throughout his life, he gave generously of his time to his community, including volunteering with Special Olympics and serving for many years as a Salvation Army bell ringer.

Adored by his children and grandchildren, his love was unconditional and his support never-ending. A call or visit with “Pa” was filled with words of encouragement and his obvious pride in their accomplishments, no matter how large or small.

Perhaps one of his greatest gifts was his ability to make and keep friends wherever life took him. Through his work, his church, and the many communities that were part of his life, he formed friendships that endured through the years. His circle of friends was never limited to his own generation; he had a remarkable ability to connect with people of all ages and walks of life. He genuinely enjoyed people, took an interest in their lives, and valued the friendships he made at every stage of his own.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Katie Marshall Guy of Salisbury; two children, Donna Guy Murray and her husband, John, of Fenwick, Delaware, and Henry Guy, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Nashville; grandchildren Hannah Virginia Guy, Henry “Lee” Guy, III, Emerson Katherine Guy, and Gunnar Edison Guy, all of Nashville; step-grandchildren Meghan Meadowcroft (Jimmy), Morgan Murray, and Michael Murray (Cassidy); two step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Norris Marshall; sister-in-law Linda Evans; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Guy; brothers-in-law Eddie Marshall and Dickie Evans; and sisters-in-law Beverly Guy and Ellouise Marshall.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Steve Hands, will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Rockawalkin Church in Hebron. Interment will follow in the Rockawalkin Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.

A special boat for funeral passengers, Island Belle II, will depart Ewell at 10:30 AM and return following the services.
