HELEN WARD WILSON, 94, of Crisfield, died Monday, March 2, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on December 12, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Marie Adams Ward. Her husband, John W. Wilson, preceded her in death on April 8, 1966.

She worked 31 years at the former Briddell's Company and 21 years as a CNA at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home, both in Crisfield.

She held memberships with Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women, and the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion Auxiliary, both Crisfield.

She is survived by two sisters, Mabel Twigg and husband, Benjamin, of Pittsville, and Nell Bennett of Mardela Springs; one brother, Jackie Ward of Crisfield; two sisters-in-law, Ada Ward and Lonnie Ward, both of Crisfield; two special friends, Sharon Byrd of Eden and Cindy Marshall of Crisfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Stella Ward on August 14, 1997; and four brothers, Bill Ward on January 13, 2008, John Irving Ward on September 28, 1941, Clyde Ward on August 25, 1971, and Gordon Thomas Ward on April 15, 2005.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one half hour prior. The Rev. Terry Riggin will officiate. Urn interment will be in Crisfield Cemetery.
