Hayes F. "Satch" Diggs, Jr., 50, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2007 from the McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
Born in Crisfield he was the son of the late Hayes Franklin Diggs and Patsy Ruth Diggs. He worked at Diggs Seafood Company until it's closure and then the family business, Mary's Little Lambs. He was co-founder and director of the Manna House Central Food Pantry which he loved doing.
He was a member of Liberty Rock Church and the Crisfield Wesleyan Church. Although Hayes attended and was active in his home churches he often loved visiting other local churches as he saw no denomination. Hayes loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and enjoyed serving Him through leading others in singing, praising, and worshiping. Music spoke to Hayes in a way that most could not understand, and his zeal and passion for it was infectious. He looked at others as Christ would. No matter what, he looked beyond their faults in which he never condemned them for it. Hayes' family meant everything to him. One of his phrases was "enjoy the small things in life, be loyal to one another, and to put God first in all you do". He has brightened the hearts of many with his ready smile and friendly greeting. Even though his satchel wasn't filled with money, it was filled with enough love for everyone.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Mary Hall Diggs; Step-Mom, Edith Diggs Warfield and husband, Bill; children he absolutely adored, Vernon Wroten and wife Jennie of Salisbury, and Angela Diggs of Crisfield; granddaughter whom was the apple of his eye and poppy's princess, Madison Mackenzie Diggs Brown; sister, Jo Ann Diggs and family of Salisbury, step-brother, Jimmy Aswell, Jr.; step-sister, Bonnie Matthews and husband Jimmy; father and mother-in-law, Rudy and Mary Hall of Marion; brothers-in-law and their spouses, William and Patty Brittingham, Robert and Tracey Hall and Rudy and Donelle Hall; nieces and nephews, Natalie Evans, Jamie Aswell, Suzanne Curry, Brian Matthews, April Brittingham, Stacey Hall, Amanda Hall, Kayla Hall, Gabrielle Matthews, Anna Hall, and John Hall; 2 special nieces, Brandy Evans and Heather Labo and husband, Philip III (Moose); 1 goddaughter, Victoria Labo; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
