Harvey Weldon Corbin, Sr., 83, of Tylerton, Smith Island, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born on Tylerton March 23, 1931, he was a son of the late Shafter and Dolphia Marshall Corbin.
A member of Union United Methodist Church, he was a lifelong waterman who loved to crab and was inducted into the Watermen's Hall of Fame this past spring. He loved to spend time with his family and looked forward to Sunday meals together. He adored his children and grandchildren and enjoyed bird watching, daily trips to the dump, and joking around with people.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy Ann Smith Corbin; five children, Harvey Corbin, Jr. and wife Dora Lynn, Eddie Corbin and wife Joan, Ronnie Corbin and wife Tina, and Patty Laird and husband John, all of Tylerton, and Carole Ann Landon and husband Everett of Tilghman Island; 10 grandchildren, Bryan, Adam, Casey, Daniel, and Taylor Corbin, Brad Laird, Dianna McGee, and Ross, Emma, and Elizabeth Landon; six great-grandchildren, Faith, Kimberly, Anna, Kamryn, Blake, and Marah Corbin; a sister, Norma Lee Somers of Ewell; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Corbin in 2013; and a grandson, Phillip Laird in 1996.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Rick Edmund will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2 PM at Union U.M. Church on Tylerton. Viewings will be Friday morning from 10-11 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home and Friday evening from 7-9 at the church on Tylerton. Interment will be in the Union Church Cemetery. Funeral passengers are to depart the City Dock in Crisfield on the Capt. Jason II. There will be a boat returning following the funeral.
