HARRY O. ULVILA, 71, of the Annemessex Ridge Area of Crisfield, Maryland and formerly of Massachusetts, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at his home.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on February 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Eino and Aune Seppala Ulvila of Finland. He had been a resident of Crisfield for six years.
He was a graduate of Pembroke High School in Pembroke, Massachusetts and attended North Eastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a retired co-owner of the former Coastal Yachts in Massachusetts and earlier, was 1st Vice President of sales with Cape Dory Yachts in Massachusetts and Maine.
Accepted in the Air Cadet Flight Training Program, Mr. Ulvila was a highly decorated United States Air Force veteran. A "true Top Gun", he was a fighter pilot who completed two tours of duty in Vietnam, and served in excess of 14 years. He was very proud of his military service, and remained very close to his Air Force Family.
He was a member of the Massachusetts Marine Traders Association, and formerly served on the Annemessex Ridge Board.
He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Ann Ulvila of Crisfield; a daughter, Laura Barron of Duxbury, Massachusetts; a son, Eric Ulvila of Duxbury, Massachusetts; and three grandchildren, Gabrielle Barron, Lily Ulvila and Thomas Barron.
Funeral services with military honors by the United States Air Force will be held Monday, January 8, 2007 at 11 AM at Mariners United Methodist Church in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Stephen S. Willing will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park near Crisfield.
