Harold Hamlin Pember of Crisfield, Maryland passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the hard earned age of 96.
Born March 23, 1919 in Cedar Mesa, Colorado he was son of the late Harold Arlington Pember and Vina Plantz Pember.
Harold (Pepa, Spike) leaves behind a remarkable legacy. Anyone lucky enough to have known him would describe him as intriguing, larger-than-life, charming, witty, engaging, and smart; and an unparalleled story teller who for all our lives has kept us on edge of our seats with his stories and his songs.
He was influential to so many, fiercely hardworking, impassioned with a desire to learn, selfless, humble, and never complained a day in his life.
Harold loved to read, grow a magnificent garden, cook, take long road trips, fix things (any and everything), take care of his house that he was so proud of, smoke his pipe after a long day of hard work, have an engaging conversation, do palmistry and spend time with his family.
Harold was a former member of Mensa, served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot during W. W. II and later worked as an engineer for Martin Marietta in Baltimore. He retired from the Crisfield Printing Co. after 20 years.
He is loved by so many and our lives are forever changed having loved him. We will always remember with warmth in our hearts his candid laugh and contagious smile. We love you Pepa, and you are an angel now.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Pember, his four children, David Pember (Margaret), Elizabeth Miller (Phil), Theresa Fantazier (John), and Brian Pember (Diane), his grandchildren, Lauren Letterio, Erick Pember, Karen Hagstrom, and Brian Pember, Jr., and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Asbury Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
