Harold Frederick Abbott, 82, of Crisfield, died Friday, June 8, 2018 at Anchorage Nursing Home in Salisbury.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 21, 1935, and after the untimely death of his parents he was raised by his Aunt Mary. His wife, Jessie Mae Rich Abbott preceded him in death on May 26, 2009.
He was a US Navy veteran and worked at Campbell's Soup Company, Mrs. Paul's Kitchen until their closing, and later retired from SAM's Club.
He was a member of the former Evangelical Wesleyan Church and the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion. He enjoyed his daily visits to Gordon's and helping family and friends with anything they needed tending to around their home.
He is survived by three sons, Kenneth James Abbott of Smyrna, DE, Richard Raymond Abbott, Sr. and wife Linda of Crisfield, and David William Ellis Abbott of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Crystal Abbott, Ashleigh Abbott, Rick Abbott, Jr., and Jennifer Sterling and husband, Darrell; five great grandchildren, Taylor, Caleb, Emilee, Kaiden, and Damon; a sister-in-law, Joyce Blades of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Joyce Abbott, who died in infancy; and his siblings, Roy Abbott, Bill Abbott, George Abbott, John Barr, and Elsie Crawford.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2 PM at Somerset Free Methodist Church where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will be in the Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to help the family with final expenses may be sent to Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, 306 W. Main Street, Crisfield, MD 21817.
