Harlton J. "Hawk" Conner, 96, of Crisfield, died Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Virginia December 7, 1919, he was a son of the late Aaron and Sara Hudson Conner. His beloved wife of 60 years, Anna Marie Betts Conner, preceded him in death July 10, 2001.
Hawk was a US Army veteran of World War II. During the war he was a truck driver, drove an ambulance and was a medic before becoming a disabled veteran. Following his discharge, he was a truck driver for eight years for the former Crisfield Express Company, and was a barber for 25 years at his former business "Hawk's Barber Shop" in Princess Anne. Hawk also had an electrician's license and could fix anything. He even built his own home including the cabinets in his kitchen and bathrooms.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Lynn Parks and husband David Gregory Parks of Crisfield; three grandchildren, Wendy Brewer, Jamie Brumley and wife Kenda, and Rhyan Brumley and wife Amy; eight great-grandchildren, Nick, Matthew and Seth Brewer, William and Jewelie Brumley, and Madeline, Sara and Tiffany Brumley; sister-in-law, Diane Conner; and nieces and nephews, Donna Sterling, Cindy Todd, Francine Vass, Vicky Norman, John Conner, Jr., Barbara Applegate, Brenda Conner, Nancy Hernandez, Heather Conner, Sherry Nelson and Brenda Crockett; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Pete, Carroll, Norman, John, Sr., and Jerry Conner; a sister, Aileen Haynie; a nephew, Phillip Crockett; his mother-in-law, Ida Betts; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Burton and Mable Crockett, Spencer and Ellistene Stewart, Thelma and Henry Clayton, Stanley and Sally Betts, Ethel Conner, Emma Sue Conner, and Homer Haynie.
Funeral services officiated by the Reverends Bob Daniels and Tad Maroon will be Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
