Harley William "Hap" McCabe, 85, of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Wicomico Nursing Home.
Born on April 9, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Ebe Chandler McCabe and Veronica Coulis McCabe.
He was a 1953 graduate of John M. Clayton High School in Delaware. After graduation, he joined the United States Coast Guard and served during the Korean War until 1957. He worked as a production manager for the former Dresser Industries until its closing.
He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury for 62 years, member of the Salisbury Elks Lodge #817, and past member of the Salisbury Jaycees.
Hap enjoyed golf and fast pitch softball. He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jill Ellen Lewis McCabe of Salisbury; children, Donna Schaeffer(Kevin) of Annapolis, Dana Stringer(Todd) of Albuquerque, NM, and Doug McCabe(Jessica) of Sacramento, CA; brother, Ebe Chandler McCabe, Jr. of Yardley, PA; sister, Phyllis Davis(Bob) of Delmar, DE; grandchildren, Alexandra Prevoznik(Christopher), Caroline Schaeffer, Patrick Schaeffer, Emily Stringer, Nicole Stringer, and Christian McCabe; a sister-in-law, Melissa Kelly(Frank) of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Dale Vroman will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury at 11 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Due to the pandemic, masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Hap may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 112 High Street, Salisbury, MD 21801; National MS Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090; or to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804.
