GLORIA MARIE BANKS, 84, of Eden, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at her home following a brave battle with bone cancer.
She was born on February 26, 1925 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
Known and loved as "Mom Banks", she moved to the Eastern Shore in her early twenties to work for Peninsula Regional Hospital in the Medical Records Department. She also worked and retired from the Wicomico County Health Department in Salisbury. After retirement, she worked for Rite Aid Pharmacy in Salisbury as a pharmacy tech for 25 years with her favorite pharmacist Sharon Allman. Gloria was known by her customers as the lady with all the bracelets.
Gloria was someone full of life till the day she died. She was a horse show Mom to her children and carried them around the East Coast to shows. She loved animals from her pet chicken to horses and dogs. She also loved traveling; she enjoyed bus trips and cruises with her many wonderful friends and also loved her yearly birthday trip to Grand Cayman with her family. She never missed an opportunity to participate in life's activities. She loved taking aqua fitness class and yoga tye chee. She also roomed and boarded for 23 years until her death many wonderful Piedmont USAIR Express Pilots and Flight Attendants. She so loved and enjoyed each person. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Prentice Campbell "P.C." Banks of Princess Anne; and a daughter, Lisa Inzerillo and husband Dr. Joseph Inzerillo of Salisbury. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Poynor.
A celebration of Gloria's life in pictures will be held Friday, July 17, 2009 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Friends may visit anytime between the hours of 4 and 7 PM.
No flowers are requested, however, donations in memory of Gloria may be made to the Wicomico County Humane Society, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, Maryland 21804.
