Obituary

Glenwood Evans, 77, of Laurel, DE, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Ewell, Smith Island on July 4, 1934, he was a son of the late Raymond B. Evans and Annie Diehl Evans.

Glen graduated from Crisfield High School class of 1952, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Salisbury State College, now Salisbury University. He taught school in Anne Arundel County for 3 years after which he joined Nationwide Insurance Co., located in Annapolis, MD. Later, he transferred to the Nationwide Home Office in Columbus, OH. After earning his CPCU certification, he attended his Confirmation Ceremony in Hawaii. He was then asked to accept a Nationwide Sales Agency in Laurel, DE and did so for a short time until declining health mandated his return to Nationwide Home Office. He then retired after 35 years of service with Nationwide.

Regardless of where his home was, he always was sure to be a faithful member of the many United Methodist Churches he belonged to. His service included serving on administrative boards, teaching Sunday school, routinely serving as an usher, and in other areas where he loved to help. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel, DE. Being a Christian man he lived by the Golden Rule and led a Christian way of life.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine Sneade Evans; his children, Glenn Evans and his wife Christina, and Cathy LaMaster; grandchildren, Amanda LaMaster, Heather, Joshua, and Zachary Evans; and a great-granddaughter, Bryanna Evans.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Webster "Web" Evans.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 16 at 1:00 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Rick Edmund will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel, DE.
