Gladys Powell Butler, 93, of Marion Station, was called home to her Lord on Monday, April 2, 2012 following an extended illness.
Born July 28, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Cephronia Esther Bailey Powell. Her husband, Earl Butler, preceded her in death in 1968.
A graduate of Marion High School, she was a farmer and a faithful member of Marion Baptist Church.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Alan Butler and wife Patti of Shelltown, Dr. Melinda Butler and her husband Dr. Timothy Sniezek of Preston, MD, and Michael Butler and his wife Amy of Marion Station; her great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Gabrielle and Madelin Sniezek of Preston, Megan Butler of Marion Station, and Shaunnessey Anderson of Akron, Ohio; three nephews, Larry Powell, Steven Powell and Gary Powell, all of Marion; and her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Vessey Butler of Shelltown.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennett Lee "Denny" Butler on May 31, 2008; and her sisters and brothers, Sue, Marie, Hazel, Nolan, Chester, Howard and "L.Q.".
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Joe Barnes will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
