Gladys O. Blades, 97, of Crisfield, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield February 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Edith Marshall. Her husband, James Parker Blades, Sr. died in 1968.

She was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, reading, her cats, and watching soaps on TV.

She is survived by three children, Patsy Reinick and husband Reuben of Virginia Beach, James "Jim" Blades and wife Patti of Pocomoke, and Beverly Lynch and husband Dale of Pocomoke; eight grandchildren, Teresa Hall, Billy Justice, Laura Evans, Chris Byrd, Brian Roman, Barbara Alford, Steve Roman, and Jennifer Lynch; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and many special caregivers.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Byrd in 2009 and a brother, Thomas Marshall, Jr.

A graveside funeral service and interment will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1 PM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tawes Nursing Home, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield MD 21817; American Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
