Geraldine Pruitt, 87, lifelong resident of Tangier Island, VA, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at her home.

Born February 26, 1930 on Tangier Island, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Irene Crockett.

She was a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church, and was most well known for her love of her family, her giving heart and most importantly her love for her Lord and Savior.

Geraldine, known as "Jerry", was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and loved having her family in her home. Her grandchildren and their close friends lovingly referred to her as "Nan".

In addition to her parents, Jerry was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Charlie A. Pruitt; and a sister, Betty Jane McMann.

She is survived by her son, Chuck Pruitt and wife Robin; two daughters, Kathy Pruitt and husband Lee, and Laura Landon and husband Shawn; four grandchildren, Teri Lee Williams, Jaclyn Allman, Mindy Wallace, and Bobby Shores; three great-grandchildren, Mia Williams, Brooklyn Allman, and Aubree Wallace; a sister, Norma Ray Dize and husband Pres; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2 PM at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier Island with Rev. John Flood and Elder Duane Crockett officiating. A viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 - 8 PM at the church.  Interment will be at the Family Cemetery on Tangier Island, VA.
