Gerald R. Tarr, 79, of San Francisco, CA passed away peacefully on May 6, 2016 at Coming Home Hospice in San Francisco.
Born on Chincoteague Island, VA June 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Willie I. (Bill) Tarr and Mildred Bowden Brewington.
Gerald graduated from Wicomico High School in Salisbury, MD, Class of 1954, and from the University of California in Berkley with a Masters Degree in English and Literature. He taught in the San Francisco school system for 30 years. Before teaching, he served his country in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his sisters, Ada Ward of Crisfield, MD and Jackie Robinson (Chuck) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; roommate and devoted caregiver, John Morrow of San Francisco, CA; two nieces; and two nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gordon T. Ward.
Gerald's ashes will be scattered over the Bay that he loved. A celebration of his life will be held for close friends and family at a later date.
