Obituary

GEORGE WILLIAM McCREADY, 74, of Crisfield, died Friday, October 2, 2009 at Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne.

Born in Crisfield on January 2, 1935, he was a son of the late Elwood Thomas and Rena Collins McCready.

He was the owner of the former McCready's Service Station in Crisfield. He was a US Navy Korean War veteran.

He was a nature lover who enjoyed watching and feeding squirrels and birds. In his younger years, he was an avid rabbit hunter.

He is survived by his companion, Karen Barnes; his brother-in-law, Phillip Labo; nephews and niece, Phillip Labo, Jr., Pansy Rayfield, Jordan Wayne Labo, Monte Labo, Mark Labo, and Duane Labo; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Elwood McCready, and a sister, Geraldine Labo.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Jerry Hughes will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the American Legion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 126, Crisfield, MD 21817.
