George S. Lane, 70, of Crisfield and formerly of Baltimore, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Baltimore on May 27, 1942, he was a son of the late Charles Stewart Lane and the late Lillian Spacek Funke. He had been making his home in Crisfield since 2001.

He was retired from the US Government Department of Defense.

George was a great carpenter, and a great cook. He loved cooking for people and especially enjoyed having his own crab feasts for family and friends. He was an honorary member of the Crisfield High School Class of 1959, and was an avid Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles fan. He loved being with his family and friends, and also loved his pet dogs.

He is survived by his long-time companion, Faye Mills of Crisfield; three children, Michelle Ross of Ocean Pines, and Michael Lane and wife Janise and Deborah McClure and husband Dan, all of Baltimore; a sister, Phyllis Schultz and husband Dennis of Marumsco; his extended family, Julie Widdowson, Lori Ahmadi, and Jeff Mills; and 16 grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Ross.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
