Gene M. Manning, 91, of Marion Station, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Bay Harbor in Salisbury.

Born in Rhodell, West Virginia, on April 22, 1935, he was a son of the late John Manning and Beatrice Bradbury Honeycutt. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucy Lester Manning, on August 30, 2013.

Gene retired as a warehouse manager from the former Roper Eastern in Columbia, Maryland. Following his retirement, he spent many enjoyable years as first mate aboard the charter fishing boat Karen Ray, working alongside the late Capt. Curtis Johns.

A faithful member of Crisfield Church of God, Gene enjoyed serving as a greeter and welcoming others with a warm smile. He loved calling the Eastern Shore home and found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his son, Gene "Speedy" Manning, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Severna Park; his grandchildren, Hailey Manning of Severna Park, and Tyler Manning and his wife, Samantha, of Pasadena; his sister-in-law, Joanne Brannen; his brother-in-law, Gilbert Lester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Monte Manning and his sisters, Ruby Shrewsbury and Louise Lester.

Funeral services will be held at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 1 PM. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Michael Vaughan will officiate and interment will follow at Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
