Frederick B. "Fritzie" Gerald, III, 80, of Crisfield, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Crisfield September 7, 1936, he was a son of the late Frederick B. Gerald, Jr. and Doris Riggin Gerald Collins.
He was a Crisfield High School graduate of the class of 1954 and served in the US Marine Corps. He was owner of the former Bayside Seafood in Crisfield.
Very active in his community, Fritzie served as Mayor and City Manager of the City of Crisfield. He was a 53 year life member and past chief of the Crisfield Fire Department, life member and past Exalted Ruler of the Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044, past president of the Crisfield Chamber of Commerce, member of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion, and member of the former Crisfield VFW Post #8274
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Lawrence Gerald of Crisfield; his daughter, Phyllis Kavanagh of Timonium; his sister, Connie Couser of Tennessee; his brother, Gary Gerald of Marion; two special uncles, Phil Gerald and Gene Riggin of Crisfield; a host of other family members; and many special friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia "Trisha" Gerald in 1989.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Stephen S. Willing will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be from 12-2PM. An Elks Memorial service will be conducted at the beginning of the service. Interment with military honors will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
