Fred Warner Henderson, 75, of Marion Station, is now absent from his body and present with his Lord! God took him Home on September 13, 2021, while staying at Coastal Hospice on the Lake and spending his precious last days with Kathy, his wife of 44 years. He joined his twin brother Howard (Jean) who preceded him in February of this year. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Olga and Fred M. Henderson.
He leaves behind his son, John David Henderson (Anna Blair) of SC, with two grandsons Victor and Everett; daughter, Joanna Masiello (Justin) of WA, with three grandsons Ben, Jack, and Ethan; brother-in-law, Bob Garrison (Carolann); sisters-in-law, Pat Sapper, Lisa Stenta (Scott), and Michele George (Ken); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family was always important to him and he hopes each will be reunited with him in heaven.
Right after high school, Fred and Howard served 4 years in the Coast Guard. He loved being in the Coast Guard and considered making it his career, but he loved the Eastern Shore of Maryland more. Instead he worked in various accounting/finance jobs through the years, making many lasting friendships from his years working for the state at Social Services in Princess Anne. He also had a tax preparation business on the side for many years. For a time he served as a bi-vocational pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church on Deal Island. Throughout his life, he was an active member of Marion Baptist, Rehobeth Baptist, and First Baptist Church of Pocomoke. In his last days he had hoped to join Kathy in attending Christ Fellowship Bible Church close to their home, but his declining health didn't allow it.
Fred was a member of the NRA and loved trapping, hunting, fishing, gardening, and bike riding. As his health declined and he could no longer do these, he enjoyed just being out in nature as much as he could. He loved his quiet neighborhood with wonderful neighbors, where he and Kathy lived for 43 of their 44 years and raised their children.
He chose to donate his body to science, so there will be no funeral, but a family memorial service will be held at a later date. He said that if he could've preached his own funeral he would have used 2 Timothy 1:12 as his text. In lieu of flowers, he wanted to donations sent to Holly Grove Christian School. 7317 Mennonite Church Road, Westover, MD 21871, where Kathy taught for 39 years and his children attended.
