IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Prouse
Swift
February 2, 1926 – January 20, 2024
Frances Prouse Swift, 97, of Salisbury, and daughter of the late George and Frances Rivell, peacefully met her heavenly father on January 20, 2024. She loved the Lord with all her heart.
Frances had been a faithful member of Faith Wesleyan Church for many years, and served as their pianist and organist. More recently she had been an active member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, participating in the choir and numerous special event ensembles. Her servant attitude kept her actively involved. She often commented that one of her favorite ministries had been to wash, starch and press Pastor Tom Bunting's dress shirts each week. Frances also accompanied and assisted her husband, as his job took him throughout much of the Eastern Shore. She was also employed in food service at Prince Street School and Peninsula General Hospital.
Her favorite hobbies were crocheting and needlepoint, and giving away the finished projects. She also enjoyed board games, and puzzles of all sorts. But her favorite pastime of all, was talking to family and friends in person, on the phone and even on social media (she became a pro at using her cell phone and iPad to talk, text, Facetime, and even "Google"). Frances had an amazing ability to listen and offer Christian advice to anyone who asked. If you knew Frances, you have likely benefited from her unlimited kindness, love, and Godly wisdom.
Frances served and loved Jesus as her Savior throughout her life, raising her three sons to understand the true meaning of Christian faith. Church attendance was a top priority including Sunday School, Sunday morning and evening services and mid-week bible study and prayer services. As boys, school homework or other activities were no excuse for missing services. On many Sunday afternoons, she would travel with her husband and boys to Hymn Sings all around the Eastern Shore, where she would play for "The Prouse Twins".
Frances is survived by her sister, Maryjane Zielsdorf, her devoted and loving sons, James Prouse (Dawne), George F. Prouse (Esther) and Howard Prouse (Kay). She is also survived by grandchildren: Jay Prouse (Tonia), Rick Prouse (Susan), George D. Prouse, Crystal Ruscoe, Angie Maida (Jim), Amy Prouse (Shane), Ryan Prouse, Greg Prouse (Kristin), Pam Dobrenen (Mike), many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Prouse and Ralph Swift, and nine of her siblings.
A celebration of her homegoing will be held at Emmanuel Church: 217 Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804 on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Emmanuel Church, or Parkway Church of God (Salisbury), or a charity of your choice.
