FRANCES M. MATTHEWS, 82, of Marion Station, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield. She had been a resident of the Tawes Nursing Home for several months.

Born in Crisfield on January 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Cleveland and Esther Anderson Somers. Her husband, Benson W. "Ben" Matthews died May 28, 1996.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Rettig and her husband Larry of Crisfield; her husband's niece and good friend, Betty Rose Ferrell of Tyler, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Melvin, Edwin, Stanley and Lawrence Somers, and Mary Elizabeth Bowen.

A graveside funeral service and interment will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 2 PM at St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station. The Rev. Terry Riggin will officiate. There will be no viewing.
